12 months old

This time last year, I was sitting in hospital, staring in loving adoration at my wife and our new born son. Fast forward a year and a lot has changed.

He started off mostly small and wrinkly, and has grown & grown ever since, he's a lot less wrinkly too. He's done many firsts, learnt many skills and grown up into a beautiful little boy with his own cheeky personality.

It hasn't been an easy year, but as I sit and reflect on it, I realise it has been a great one. I'm so blessed to have a wonderful wife and a brilliant little boy.

I wonder what the next year will bring.

Out of routine

Apologies for the missing day, I've become a bit sloppy with blogging, and I completely forgot to do it. Nothing much happened that was note worthy. After my bad day on Thursday, I had much better days on Friday & Saturday.

I've just been really tired.

Relapse

Today was a bad day, I've had a bit of a relapse, and the worst part of it was, I indulged. Since the start of the year I've been eating better, I have bigger meals at lunch and smaller in the evening. I've also been avoiding rubbish food. This evening I had a huge portion of sausage and chips from the chippy.

Now I disgust myself.

HOLIDAY!

Another day off, another lay-in. This time it was a bit more planned and I slept in later. By the time I woke up my wife and our son had gone out and I had some time to myself. After I had my breakfast, I spent some time playing on the PS3. By the time my wife and son got home, I'd started to really miss them and had become a bit bored. I had also got lunch almost completely ready for us.

After lunch we had a couple of things we needed to go out and do, but spent the rest of the afternoon playing with our son. Then once he was in bed booked a holiday.

We ended the night once again cuddled up in bed watching a DVD.

Curling up with a DVD

When my alarm went off at 6.30, I rolled over and waited for my wife's alarm at 6.35. Next thing I knew it was 8 o'clock, my wife had been awake before her alarm and had silenced it within seconds. Once I was awake we had to wait for someone to come and fix our front door, before we went and did our shopping.

On the way home from shopping we stopped at a newish resteraunt, Chiquito, for some lunch. The food was great, the atmosphere was fantastic, the service let it down.

After lunch it was home, packing the shopping away and putting our TV on the wall in the bedroom. We've not had a TV in the bedroom at all since we've been together, but over the last few weeks we've both commented that it would be nice sometimes, when we're both tired to curl up in bed and watch a DVD.

That's exactly what we did last night.

Advantageous swap

I wasn't supposed to be working yesterday, but I agreed to swap. I'm glad I did, it was an awesome day. It also had the added side effect of having 2 days off together.

I love that everything seems to be going my way.

Unnecessary stress

This evening, when I got home from work, I helped my wife cut our sons hair. All I can say is it wasn't fun. He was screaming, throwing himself around and generally getting stressed out. It's not like it was even his first haircut, it's his 3rd or 4th.

Luckily we only have to cut it once in a blue moon.
