This time last year, I was sitting in hospital, staring in loving adoration at my wife and our new born son. Fast forward a year and a lot has changed.
He started off mostly small and wrinkly, and has grown & grown ever since, he's a lot less wrinkly too. He's done many firsts, learnt many skills and grown up into a beautiful little boy with his own cheeky personality.
It hasn't been an easy year, but as I sit and reflect on it, I realise it has been a great one. I'm so blessed to have a wonderful wife and a brilliant little boy.
I wonder what the next year will bring.

Out of routine
Apologies for the missing day, I've become a bit sloppy with blogging, and I completely forgot to do it. Nothing much happened that was note worthy. After my bad day on Thursday, I had much better days on Friday & Saturday.
I've just been really tired.

Relapse
Today was a bad day, I've had a bit of a relapse, and the worst part of it was, I indulged. Since the start of the year I've been eating better, I have bigger meals at lunch and smaller in the evening. I've also been avoiding rubbish food. This evening I had a huge portion of sausage and chips from the chippy.
Now I disgust myself.

HOLIDAY!
Another day off, another lay-in. This time it was a bit more planned and I slept in later. By the time I woke up my wife and our son had gone out and I had some time to myself. After I had my breakfast, I spent some time playing on the PS3. By the time my wife and son got home, I'd started to really miss them and had become a bit bored. I had also got lunch almost completely ready for us.
After lunch we had a couple of things we needed to go out and do, but spent the rest of the afternoon playing with our son. Then once he was in bed booked a holiday.
We ended the night once again cuddled up in bed watching a DVD.

Curling up with a DVD
When my alarm went off at 6.30, I rolled over and waited for my wife's alarm at 6.35. Next thing I knew it was 8 o'clock, my wife had been awake before her alarm and had silenced it within seconds. Once I was awake we had to wait for someone to come and fix our front door, before we went and did our shopping.
On the way home from shopping we stopped at a newish resteraunt, Chiquito, for some lunch. The food was great, the atmosphere was fantastic, the service let it down.
After lunch it was home, packing the shopping away and putting our TV on the wall in the bedroom. We've not had a TV in the bedroom at all since we've been together, but over the last few weeks we've both commented that it would be nice sometimes, when we're both tired to curl up in bed and watch a DVD.
That's exactly what we did last night.

Advantageous swap
I wasn't supposed to be working yesterday, but I agreed to swap. I'm glad I did, it was an awesome day. It also had the added side effect of having 2 days off together.
I love that everything seems to be going my way.

Unnecessary stress
This evening, when I got home from work, I helped my wife cut our sons hair. All I can say is it wasn't fun. He was screaming, throwing himself around and generally getting stressed out. It's not like it was even his first haircut, it's his 3rd or 4th.
Luckily we only have to cut it once in a blue moon.

Working through the pain
This morning I stubbed my toe, probably breaking it. Despite my wife's remonstrations, instead of going to A&E, I went to work. My boss spent most of the morning encouraging me to sit down and rest my foot, but I told him that I couldn't sell anything sitting down.
I probably should have listened to them, but I like to think I can handle a little pain.

Out of my head
It's amazing the difference a little self belief can have. This month so far I have just been going with the flow, and so far it's paying off. I've not exactly been taking it easy, in fact I've probably been working harder than ever. The difference is that I've been working hard but not stressing about how I'm performing. Basically I've been doing rather than thinking.
I think I should stay out of my head all the time.

January slump
Every year in January most businesses completely die, usually around the time people break their resolutions, this is due to the fact that people get paid early in December. I was, and I still am, optimistic that this will not effect us this year. Despite that today was a slow day.
Tomorrow I do it all again, hoping for a better result.

2 for the price of 1
So I left my iPad at work on Tuesday and had a day off Wednesday, so I've only just got round to doing this blogs. Nothing extraordinary happened either day, although I did do some DIY, which is not like me.
I have my iPad again so it'll be back to normal.

Accidental Chilli
Today I had another day off, we had a few bits to do, but it was still great. My son had a few of his friends over in the morning for a play date. It's so nice to see how they've all changed so much over the year. After lunch, a chilli con carne my wife got up early to make only to find out we already had some made up, we went into town. There was lots to do in town, but now it's all done we shouldn't have to go in town again for a while.
I'm totally worn out, but it was a great day off.

A near perfect day
Today was my first day off this year, and it was a great one. I'd left the washing up from last night so that had to be done first thing. Once that was done it was an amazing day. We took our son to the park to feed the ducks. My wife cooked me an amazing Beef Roast, I gave it 9.7 out of 10, we had apple crumble and custard for desert. After lunch we watched my wife's other love, Nottingham Forest, win their FA cup 3rd round game on TV.
Overall I could not think of anything, realistic, that could have made today any better.

What a week
As I approach my first days off of the new year, I look back at the first 4 days of the year and can't help but be satisfied. It's been a great year so far.
Let's hope the other 361 days are as good.

#1
Today, with the help of the awesome rep, I became the number 1 ranked person in the whole country on the HTC specialist site. It's an achievement I hope to maintain throughout the whole year and will be doing everything in my power to do so.
I love being number 1.

Unexpectedly Awesome
Today is New Year's Day, typically it is a very bad day at work. After the late night, and the final indulgence of the holiday season, most people would rather stay at home, in bed, than come into town. Today wasn't like that at all. The early and late parts of the day were very quiet, but the middle of the day was really busy.
We set a good first target for best Wednesday of 2014 and I'd bet that tomorrow will be the best Thursday of 2014 too.
