Back to life ... Back to reality

Today is my first day back at work and I'm feeling nervous, but if I don't go now I never will. I love my job and find it very rewarding but the pressures of ever increasing targets get to me. I feel like I'm chasing down a moving finish line! Today I have to start early too as we had a POS (point of sale) change, involving changing posters, price tickets etc. The change was last night but as POS champion for our store it is my responsibility to make sure it is 100% perfect.

On my way to work I check up on my other champion role, customer satisfaction surveys, and find that while in my absence we have dropped, we have achieved 80%, the minimum standard in my opinion, for last month! The game all starts again today though as a new month means a clean slate and a fresh opportunity. Lets go get it!

I arrive at work on time and only wait a minute for my colleague to arrive to open the store and then it's down to business. After a frantic hour we were POS perfect and it was time to open the doors. The day passed fairly uneventfully and while I didn't have the day I'd hoped for I was satisfied with my performance. Before I knew it it was time to close and I was on my way home, excited by the prospect of a day off, lounging in the garden with my 2 brothers-in-law and their girlfriends, and a BBQ.

Once home it's straight out in the garden for a lovely dinner, before getting the boy ready for bed, and preparing the pool for tomorrow. After that its a quiet evening in front of the TV with the wife before a play session.

All in all a good, if busy, day for me.
